Vanguard provides crew members with annual paid time off (PTO). Under the Paid Time Off (PTO) Policy, you receive PTO based on tenure, grade level, and whether you are on a full- or part-time schedule. Your PTO hours are reflected in Workday and are prorated for part-time schedules and leaves.
Crew Central™ is responsible for calculating each crew member's accrued PTO throughout the year.
To calculate how much PTO you have accrued at any given time, follow the steps below:
- Take your number of days employed and divide it by 365.
- Next, multiply your results from Step 1 by your annual PTO Entitlement.
Example: Jane has an annual PTO entitlement of 195 hours and would like to calculate her PTO accrual as of March 31.
Total days employed (January through March 31) = 90
90 divided by 365 = 0.246575
0.246575 multiplied by 195 = 48.08219 Accrued PTO as of 3/31 (round up to the nearest quarter) = 48.25
Note: Any additional PTO hours awarded (e.g., a Vanguard-wide incentive day) are added to the calculated number from Step 2, which yields the total PTO accrued.
If you take a type of leave that does not accrue PTO (see PTO Policy for details), your PTO will be prorated based on your time out of the office and will be reflected in Workday once your return date has been initiated.
